Rodger Gerberding and Linda Lewis September 2019 - Through the month of September, the Raymer Society for the Preservation of the Arts will present an exhibition of letters by Lester Raymer in Studio II (The South Studio of the Red Barn Studio Museum, 212 S. Main, Lindsborg.) This will include portions of letters, quotes and letters to read, coordinated with works of art that Raymer would have mentioned in the letters. This is an opportunity to see the work and life of Lester Raymer from a perspective, not only within his art, but beyond it, as he viewed daily life and the art that came out of it. Helping with the exhibition is Rodger Gerberding, writer, actor and visual artist from Council Bluffs, IA. Rodger has participated in the AIR program several times and has selected letters to be included in the exhibition. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 785 227-2217.
Gerberding has participated in the Artist-in- Residence program several times and has selected letters to be included in this exhibition. The Raymer Society will host a reception, Friday, September 13, during the Makers Street Artwalk where you may read, view and listen to those letters as narrated by Gerberding’s expressive voice. Also, during the Artwalk, The Red Barn Studio is pleased to present a poetry reading by Linda Lewis from her book, Ensemble, by Spartan Press and available from Amazon, Barnes and Noble.
Professor emerita at Bethany College, this is Mrs. Lewis’ first book of verse. While it contains a good amount of writing, touching nature and feelings, a large portion is written about women whose art, lives and passions intrigued the writer. Lewis will have signed copies of her book available at the reading.
The Red Barn Studio Museum is open Tues thru Fri 10AM-5PM, Sat and Sun 1-5 and by appt.
