◯ J BOOG
J Boog Jerry "J Boog” Afemata, a reggae singer of Samoan descent, was born in Long Beach and was raised in Compton, California. Steeped in Samoan culture and as the son of a Samoan chief, J Boog’s large family has had a huge impact on his artistry. Nicknamed “Boog” by his siblings because he could never sit still for long, J Boog is currently living and traveling between Hawaii and California. J Boog has not taken a break since the release of his debut album "Hear Me Roar" in 2007. It was his close collaboration with island music pioneer, George "Fiji" Veikoso, whom he met in 2005, that has helped spur the creation of J Boog’s unique sound, as well as pave the way for many other Polynesian artists.
◯ SOJA
Over the course of the past few years, SOJA has sold more than 200,000 albums, headlined large theaters in more than 20 countries around the world, generated over 120 million YouTube views, amassed over 4 million Facebook fans, and attracted an almost Grateful Dead-like international fanbase that grows with each tour, with caravans of diehards following them from city to city.
Most impressive of all, they’ve accomplished all this on their own. This Grammy Nominated 8-piece band has spent the past several years grinding it out from venue to venue, headlining sold-out tours of North and South America, as well as opening for O.A.R. and sharing stages with everyone from Dave Matthews Band to Incubus.
◯ Fortunate Youth
Fortunate Youth is a collaboration of South Bay reggae stand-outs. Rising from various bands, they've created a phenomenal 6-piece masterpiece bringing more fire to the stage than ever before. Combining rootsy vibes and unique bass lines united with multiple harmonies, boisterous guitar solos, and heavy keys separate Fortunate Youth from every other mainstream reggae band. With their high energy approach and positive stage presence they provide an unforgettable show to every music fan. Fortunate Youth's objective is to ensure a performance that leaves you feeling euphoric and curious about what might happen at the next show. Upon Releasing their full-length album they quickly rose to #2 on the iTunes Reggae Charts and also locked in a #13 position on Billboard Top 100 Reggae Albums.
◯ Julian Marley
Like his father, reggae pioneer Bob Marley, and several of his siblings before him, Julian Marley pursued the life of a musician, becoming a fixture in the reggae world as a singer, songwriter, producer, and collaborator. Proficient on a number of instruments from a young age, Julian worked with brothers Stephen, Damian, and Ky-Mani Marley as part of the Ghetto Youth Crew before releasing his own solo debut, Lion in the Morning, in 1996. Touring globally both with his backing band, the Uprising, and as part of various other Marley family-related projects, Julian's solo career reached a new level with 2009's critically acclaimed Awake, which earned a Grammy nomination. A devout Rastafarian, his songs promote themes of goodwill, spirituality, and social justice.
