Two days each winter, the BCRD offers Nordic and snowshoe trails free to the community.

Nordic Demo Day will take place on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Galena Lodge and Nordic skiing and snowshoeing on all BCRD’s winter trails throughout the valley will be free for the day. Experts from the Elephant’s Perch and Backwoods Mountain Sports and other Nordic product representatives will be on site with ski demos available to try out from 10 a.m. — 3 p.m. Galena Lodge will be offering free "Learn to Ski” clinics from 10 a.m. — 2 p.m on the hour. These 30-minute lessons are designed for beginning skiers to get a head start on their Nordic technique. There will be complimentary equipment available during the lessons. New this year, you can skip the driving and catch the Mountain Rides Ride n’ Glide bus for free on December 8thand 9th. Running 44 days throughout the season, the Ride n’ Glide bus route connects Ketchum to Galena Lodge and points in between. Call Galena Lodge at 208-726-4010 or visit www.galenalodge.comfor more information.

Ski Free Day on Sunday, January 6, 2019.  Free Nordic skiing or snowshoeing on all BCRD winter trails throughout the valley!

Ski The Rails will take place on Saturday, February 9, 2018.  This free cross-country ski tour along the Wood River Trail is suitable for Nordic skiers of all ages and abilities and their dogs.  Beginning in Ketchum, Nordic skiers find aid stations along the Wood River Trail as they make their way south to Hailey. Tourers finish their ski at the Sun Valley Brewery with a bonfire and live music.  Before the tour begins, buses shuttle skiers from Hailey to Ketchum so that their car is at the finish.
