Oxford and the surrounding area now has their own PFLAG (Parents & Friends of Lesbians & Gays) group. A founding member, Rawnica Dillingham stated, “I have worked this past year to start a PFLAG Chapter in Oxford so that we can help facilitate love and acceptance in our community. “ Currently the Oxford Area PFLAG Board of Directors includes: Brian Revalee, President; Sabrina Jewell, Treasurer and Rawnica Dillingham, Secretary. At the recent community meeting, several other community members volunteered to serve on the board, including Shevonne Nelson, Assistant Director~ Office of Diversity Affairs, Coordinator for GLBTQ Services, Miami University.
Oxford Area PFLAG will meet monthly on the 2nd Monday of each month at Oxford Seniors, 922 Tollgate Drive at 7:00pm. The next meeting will be Monday, April 13th. Our speaker will be Shevonne Nelson, presenting on What that What!?: a session that focuses on understanding the basic terms used for and within the LGBTQ+ community. These terms will then be sorted in to the appropriate usage spectrum.
Goals for Oxford Area PFLAG are: to promote the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse
society;education, to enlighten the public and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal
