Description

Saturday, October 13
10:00am-2:00pm
Program at Botna Bend Park, 10:00-10:30am
Optional float from Avoca to Hancock, 10:30am-2:00pm

Join Golden Hills RC&D, East and West Nishnabotna Watershed Coalition, and Pottawattamie County Conservation to learn about the historic and pre-historic wildlife and people who called the West Nishnabotna River home. This event will begin with a short program at Botna Bend Park in Hancock at 10am on Saturday, October 13. The program is free and open to the public. Weather and water levels permitting, pre-registered participants will then be shuttled to Avoca and canoe back to Botna Bend on the West Nishnabotna River, learning about the ghosts of the Nishnabotna's past.

Registration is not required for the program at Botna Bend, but pre-registration (and a $10 fee) is required for the float. Fee includes canoe, paddle, and life jacket rental, and shuttle to Avoca. The float will end at Botna Bend and participants will be free to leave, or stick around for the other All Hallow's Eve festivities at the park. Click here to register.

Please note, all participants must pay a $3 entrance fee to Botna Bend Park if they do not have an annual Pottawattamie County parks pass.
