Integrating technology into everyday efficiencies is something that every industry needs to be thinking about. When COVID-19 struck, workplaces, schools and society began integrating digital spaces into everyday life and it pushed the hospitality and tourism sector to new boundaries with the conception of mass-scale virtual events that can range from a group of 50 attendees to 500!

Join us on Wednesday, Nov. 25, at noon for our next SAIT digiTALKS series with James Overall, Dean, from the School of Hospitality and Tourism. Join James as he hosts a panel discussion on “Virtual Events – a New Stage in Hospitality” with SAIT thought leaders and industry experts. Learn about the types of technology being utilized in the hospitality sector, how we can anticipate moving forward and how it will alter the future of hospitality and tourism.     • Dustin Westling – Owner of One West Events
      Dustin is a valued industry connection for SAIT. He has participated in industry engagement sessions, advised on course curriculum, and was instrumental in helping to develop our new Event Management specialization in the Hospitality and Tourism Management Diploma.
    • Kurby Court – President & CEO of Telus Convention Center
      Kurby has over 21 years of experience in the hospitality industry in many senior leadership roles. He brings with him a wealth of experience, innovative thinking and community engagement. He has been a thought-leader within events for years, and been in charge of many international events at both Spruce Meadows and Telus Convention Centre.
    • David Woodward – Executive Director - Meetings and Conventions of Tourism Calgary
      David and Tourism Calgary have been strong industry connections for the School of Hospitality and Tourism - sitting on advisory boards, and employing both practicum students and recent grads. David has a vast amount of experience in hospitality and events, and has been in the industry for the past 38 years in several senior leadership roles and been part of events ranging from the Country Music Awards to the Grey Cup.
    • Mark DellaValle – General Manager at FMAV
      Mark has worked on several projects alongside SAIT, including our annual President’s Dinner. His expertise was instrumental to the success of these events, along with many others.
