Venkatesh Sivaraman, Piano
Student Recital
Venkatesh Sivaraman (Venkat) has been a student of the piano since the age of three, and currently studies with Prof. Sergey Schepkin through the CMU Music Extension Division. He has presented solo repertoire in regional, state, and national piano competitions, and performed in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In May 2020, he completed his bachelor’s degree at MIT in Computer Science and Molecular Biology with a Minor in Music. While at MIT, he studied with Prof. David Deveau and performed works such as Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit; sonatas by Schubert, Scriabin, and Kirchner; piano trios by Shostakovich, Dvorak, and Shulamit Ran; and some of his own compositions. Venkat was a co-winner of the MIT Symphony Concerto Competition this year, and will perform Ravel’s Concerto in G with the orchestra at a date still to be determined. He is now a first-year PhD student at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute, advised by Prof. Adam Perer.
