Tessa Vermeulen is a junior studying flute performance with Alberto Almarza. Competition awards include first place in the 2019 Wisconsin Flute Festival College Young Artist Competition and 2019 South Carolina Collegiate Artist Competition, second in the 2019 Florida Flute Association College Young Artist Competition, and third in the 2020 Philadelphia Flute Society Collegiate Artist Competition. Tessa has performed as a concerto soloist with the Lakeview Symphony Orchestra of Chicago, the Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra of Chicago, and the Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest. She had her radio debut performing a solo program for the WFMT 98.7 “Introductions” program. In the summer of 2019, she was a fellow with the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. For the summers of 2020-2021, Tessa was accepted as a fellow with the National Repertory Orchestra.
