An avid performer of French, Spanish, and contemporary repertoire, Nicaraguan tenor, Jordy Betancourt-Vargas is an artist to watch. Jordy made his Carnegie Mellon University debut in their first virtual production as Claudio in Hector Berlioz’s Beatrice et Benedict followed by his portrayal of Ethan Snyder in Kamala Sankaram’s Looking at You. A frequent performer with Nightingale Opera Theatre in Hudson, Ohio, he has been seen as the cover for Gideon March/Dashwood in Mark Adamo’s Little Women, Assan in Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Consul, and an ensemble member for Gaetano Donizetti’s L'elisir d’amore. In 2018, Jordy placed 3rd at the Ohio NATS competition for the upper collegiate division. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jordy was contracted for his Chicago Summer Opera debut as Sid in Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring.
