Venkatesh Sivaraman (Venkat) has been a student of the piano since the age of three, and currently studies with Prof. Sergey Schepkin through the CMU Music Extension Division. He has presented solo repertoire in regional, state, and national piano competitions, and performed in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In May 2020, he completed his bachelor’s degree at MIT in Computer Science and Molecular Biology with a Minor in Music. While at MIT, he studied with Prof. David Deveau and performed works such as Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit; sonatas by Schubert, Scriabin, and Kirchner; piano trios by Shostakovich, Dvorak, and Shulamit Ran; and some of his own compositions. Since beginning his PhD at CMU, Venkat has given a virtual solo recital and performed Ravel’s Concerto in G with the MIT Symphony in October 2021. He is now a second-year PhD student at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute, advised by Prof. Adam Perer.
