She is originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia and started her cello studies at age 11. In 2014, she joined the Bay Youth Orchestras of Virginia located in Hampton Roads in their string orchestra then advanced to the concert and symphony orchestras where she has held the principal chair between 2017-2021. In high school, she attended 4 years at the Governor’s School for the Arts in the music department located in Norfolk, Virginia. During her time at both programs, she collaborated with the Virginia Symphony and has received masterclasses from renowned cellists Alisa Weilerstein, Sterling Elliott, and Anouchka Hack. In 2020 she placed 1st in the Governor’s School for the Arts Orchestra Concerto Competition. In addition to her classical music studies, she became a founding member of a pop string quartet called the Castonio Quartet through the Governor’s School alongside her brother who plays viola where they arrange their own medleys from classics to pop songs. They then continued to perform locally in their hometown up until summer 2022. A big part of her musical journey includes performing with her family acoustic cover band Two Arms of Flight as a vocalist, pianist, and cellist since 2014.
