"Of Poetry and Song" is a Junior recital inspired by the speech-like inflection of music and the musical quality of words. Flutist Delia Zaleski is delighted to share a program featuring poetry readings and works by Robert Schumann, Rosalie Marie Wertheim, Felix Mendelssohn, Frank Martin, and Gary Schocker.

Delia Zaleski is a Junior at the Carnegie Mellon School of Music pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Flute Performance, studying with Alberto Almarza. She graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in 2020 with a Fine Arts award, and in the past couple years she has received national recognition for her flute playing including first prize from the National Flute Association High School Soloist Competition in 2020. She recently won the 2022-2023 Carnegie Mellon Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition, and performed Frank Ticheli’s "Silver Lining" flute concerto this past February. As an advocate for community engagement in music, she is an intern for Azure Pittsburgh and is currently designing a program and performing in their upcoming “Opposites Abstract” concert in collaboration with visual artist Mo Willems.
