Emma Berkowitz, composition
In her first recital since 2019, composer and vocalist Emma Berkowitz is combining her love of floriography, mythology, and storytelling to craft a program of exquisite music and poetry. Featuring several friends from the School of Music as well as Emma herself, this is a special event you won't want to miss.

A prolific and creative composer, Emma Berkowitz wields a sound that is both intimate and boundless. Colleagues and mentors have described her work as colorful, striking, and evocative. She began her musical studies at Skidmore College where she earned B.A’s in both English and Music. She was the 2020 recipient of the Barbara Gruntal Allen award for excellence in vocal performance, and her literary thesis, “The Other Eve: How Reading Lilith Reveals the Maternal Gothic,” remains one of the top ten most-read student works from Skidmore College. Now, Emma is combining her studies in English Literature and Music as she completes her Masters of Music Composition at Carnegie Mellon University.
