Helena Lent is a saxophonist originally from Poughkeepsie, New York. She is a current senior Music Performance major with a Film & Visual Media minor at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. While at Carnegie Mellon, she has had the privilege to study under Dr. Jason Kush. In the Spring of 2023, Helena studied abroad in Milan, Italy, under Mario Marzi, who teaches saxophone at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi. At Carnegie Mellon, Helena has participated in the school’s Wind Ensemble, Philharmonic, Contemporary Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, Saxophone Quartet, and other chamber ensembles. While she focuses mostly on classical saxophone, Helena has experience playing jazz, having participated in the Berklee Jazz Festival in Boston, MA (2017), placed at the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival in Rockville, MD (2018, 2019, 2020), and invited to perform at the Jazz Education Network Conference in New Orleans, LA (2020). Other notable performances include Carnegie Hall in New York City, NY (2018).
