Description

Registration is now open for the Pittsburgh Double Bass Symposium, which is taking place on March 2, 2025.


Schedule:

9:00 am Class - Jeff Mangone

10:30 am Performance - Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Bass Section

1:00 pm Class - Scott Dixon

3:00 pm Class - Joe McFadden

6:00 pm Class - Ju-Fang Liu

8:00 pm Performance - Mikyung Sung

Presenters for the 2025 Pittsburgh Double Bass Symposium will include Mikyung Sung as the featured recitalist. Scott Dixon of the Cleveland Orchestra, Ju-Fang Liu, Principal Bass of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Joe McFadden, Principal Bass of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and Jeff Mangone, Principal Bass of the Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra will all give classes. And the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Double Bass Section, with special guest Jeff Turner, professor of Double Bass at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, will perform. Shank’s Strings, Heartland Double Bass Shop, Bob’s House of Basses, Upton Bass, Cincinnati Bass Cellar, and Korus Bows.

All performances and classes are held in Kresge Theatre. The exhibitors are located in Alumni Concert Hall in the College of Fine Arts Building.
