Amin Carrillo is a Colombian pianist celebrated for his versatility as a soloist, collaborative artist, and educator. Born in Santa Marta, Colombia, Carrillo’s journey in music began with a deep passion for the piano, leading to undergraduate studies in piano performance with an emphasis on composition at Universidad INCCA de Colombia.
His talent and dedication have earned him recognition in prestigious piano competitions, including first prizes at the Bogotá International Piano Competition in 2010 and the UIS National Piano Competition in Bucaramanga, Colombia, in 2013.
Currently pursuing a Certificate of Advanced Music Studies at Carnegie Mellon University under the esteemed tutelage of Frederic Chiu, Carrillo continues to refine his artistry. He has previously studied with distinguished pianists including Luz Manriquez, Jocelyn Dueck, Rodrigo Ojeda, and Sung-Im Kim.
Carrillo has performed in prominent venues and festivals, showcasing an extensive repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary works. His solo repertoire features masterpieces by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Scriabin, and Prokofiev, while his collaborative work includes chamber music by Franck, Schumann, Brahms, and Bernstein.
As a collaborative pianist, he has held significant roles, including accompanying the Canta Bogotá Canta Children’s Choir and the Symphonic Choir of Universidad de los Andes. Notable performances include Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols.
Beyond performance, Carrillo is dedicated to education and outreach. His work reflects his commitment to excellence in Music, whether as a performer, collaborator, or educator, and he continues to inspire audiences and students alike with his artistry and passion.
