|This year, I was lucky to do 40 shows in Australia with Scott Cook, who's not just one of the best songwriters we have in Canada, but for my money, one of the best from anywhere, anytime. For those who have my double-album Paper Nickels, I included Scott's song "The Lord Giveth (and the Landlord Taketh Away)" on that.
Scott never stops bringing it, never stops blowing me away. One of my favourite things is to see people discover him for the first time. Aside from the fact that he's a real-deal troubadour who delivers the warm and wooden magic we hope for when we see a singer-songwriter, he's also one of the only songwriters in my tribe who offers a similar richness in his album packaging. Scott's latest record, Further Down the Line, comes with 144 beautiful pages, and his last three projects include the chords as well as the lyrics and stories.
Do you trust me? Then put your money on The Staircase for Fri Oct 19th.
It might just be my only Hamilton set this year, and I have a sneaking suspicion that it's going to be a special one.
